O Sunflower Bean é uma das bandas novas mais interessantes, com uma ótima pegada poprock mas cheios de conteúdo e personalidade, como o álbum de estréia Human Ceremony (2016) deixa claro logo na primeira audição.
Originais do brooklin novaiorquino, surgiram em 2013 e são formados atualmente por Jacob Faber (bateria), Julia Cumming (baixo e voz) e Nick Kivlen (guitarras e voz), capitaneando toda uma nova cena de NYC que surge agregando a psicodelia com a sonoridade póspunk.
A banda é uma das apostas da renovação da MTV norte americana, tendo destaque nos programas novas que focam em apresentar artistas ao vivo numa tentativa de renovar e manter o canal junto às novas gerações.
Pelo visto estão sabendo aproveitar bem o hype, liberando recentemente via Bandcamp um novo EP chamado “From the Basement” com quatro covers dos The Modern Lovers (Old World), Neil Young (Harvest Moon), Spiritualized (Shine A Light) e T-Rex (Life is a Gas), e que também foi lançado em vinil especial verde com somente 500 copias.
